Project 2018:

During the anniversary week in Staare 2018, the piece "Mijjieh daesnie" was performed. This dance piece is about showing that we Sami exist and are still active within our culture. Hence the name, which means "We are here" in Southern Sami. The piece was performed by myself and Kajsa Nilsson and was a result of the started piece "We are still here" which was created in Bangalore in 2017.

Project 2017:

In December 2017, I received the offer to participate Play Practice Apprenticeship programme in Bangalore, India. The program was aimed at professional dancers/choreographers who wanted to explore modern dance, improvisation, their own ideas and start their own projects. I started a project I had long had ideas about and it resulted in the duet "We are still here".

With this duet, I want to tell a story about us Sami, how we took care of nature and never left any traces behind us, and that it is therefore difficult for us to claim certain places, but that we are still here and operate within our culture .

In April 2017 I was active in the performance Trace/Re-Trace with my duet "Dihte". The entrance to the duet was male/female and I started from my Sami identity. In the Sami culture, in my opinion, there is a special way of looking at what is male and what is female, and when I look at myself, I realize that there is an equal amount of male/female in all of us. That's why I call the piece "Dihte", because in Sami we don't have our own words for he or she, we just use the word Dihte.
